Transurethral Monopolar Resection of the Prostate: Experience of Amirou Boubacar Hospital in Niamey, Niger

Introduction: Benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) is a very common urological pathology and occurs in men their fifties. The clinical manifestation manifested by symptoms of the lower urinary tract such as dysuria pollakiuria. Surgical management has been revolutionized advent trans-urethral resection prostate (TURP), which reference treatment.
 Objective: objective this work was to evaluate results first cases transurethral at Amirou Boubacar hospital Niamey.
 Patients Methods: This descriptive study conducted Hospital Niamey over period from December 5, 2021 June 2022 involved patients admitted urology department Niamey. variables studied were: age, profession, level education, marital status, therapeutic aspect. data collected on an individual collection form records. To analyze data, spss version 20 software useful allowed us obtain our results.
 Results: During we had 28 TURP out prevalence 9.20% all emergencies. most represented age group that 60 – 69 years with 60.72%. Farmers (71.43%), civil servants (21.43%). Shopkeepers (7.14%). From point view, consulted for pollakiuria, average IPSS score (International Prostate Symptom Score) 22.33. total PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) 3 ng / ml, volume 45.20 g. duration intervention 41 min. catheterization 48 hours, complication note 3.57% type severe hyponatremia
 Conclusion: frequent whose surgical (Transurethral Resection Prostate) being gold standard. shortens hospitalization good improvement patient's quality life micturition.
